The beautiful Locorotondo

locorotondo

Locorotondo stands on the summit of the Itria Valley, immortalised in the photographs of every visitor. A beautiful village dotted with whitewashed houses, famous throughout the world for its historic centre. The heart of the town, it is characterised by typical houses with pointed roofs and flowered balconies.

Strolling through the streets of the town centre, one breathes a peaceful and orderly air, where time seems suspended and one is pleasantly lost in the scents and traditions of a land that has managed to preserve its history intact, enhancing it in every corner of the town. From a promontory dotted with bars and restaurants that light up the town's nightlife, you can admire an enchanting panorama of the Itria Valley: the view is lost among the green of the vines and olive trees, the blue of the sky and the trulli typical of the area.

The surrounding landscape

Strolling through the surrounding countryside, you can admire the so-called jazzili: groups of single-family trulli with shared facilities such as a cistern, a threshing floor and a small chapel.

Five kilometres from the city, near Selva di Fasano, is the district of San Marco, where the rural church of the same name was built in 1678, in the shape of a Latin cross with a bell gable and a roof covered with stones, made using a technique similar to that used for trulli roofs.
