Fasano is an Italian municipality of 39,717 inhabitants in Puglia. Fasano, also known as the "City of oil", is located at the centre of an imaginary triangle that has as its vertices the cities of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto, about 50 km from Fasano, the city marks the border between Salento and the Land of Bari. The place name "Fasano" probably comes from "Faso", the ancient name of a large white wild pigeon (depicted on the civic coat of arms) that drank from the so-called "fogge", an open-air swamp or well where water from the hills flowed. Above these fogge today is the municipal villa.
Fasano is also known for its tourist resorts, such as Savelletri, which in the last ten years has made hospitality its strong point at national and international level, offering 5-star facilities and services and also known for the various celebrities who decide to spend and celebrate their events in this location; Torre Canne known for its spa and sandy beaches, La selva di Fasano holiday resort par excellence with panoramic views of the sea and surrounding hills.
